Powell House Noosa River 1991

An introverted town house with “H” shaped plan and central courtyard or breezeway. Bounded on one side by busy arterial road and on the other, Noosa River. The “thin” east wing is a “long house” for living activities while the west wing contains bedrooms. The versatile open planning allows for flexibility in various types of indoor and outdoor entertaining. Fenestration and clerestory allows for controlling cross ventilation. External and internal timber shutters give western sun protection and transitional privacy.
