House Noosa Sound Noosa Queensland 1982

This house was designed and built by architect, John Mainwaring, for his family. The design is a series of pavilions built around a central open atrium space and a central east-west breezeway. The openness and separation of the plan allows for natural ventilation during hot periods and easy heating during winter. The materials and construction techniques combine elements of the traditional “Queensland” house, the local “boat shed” vernacular and aspects of neighbouring Pacific cultures.
